Course Overview
The BSB60120 Advanced Diploma of Business, is a nationally recognised qualification. This course reflects the role of individuals in a variety of Business Services job roles. These individuals may have general management accountabilities. Individuals in these roles carry out complex tasks in a specialist field of expertise. They may undertake technical research and analysis and will often contribute to setting the strategic direction for a work area.
The course is suited to individuals who are responsible for the supervision and leadership of a team or work area (including by managing staff performance and making staffing decisions).
Completion of this course may open a career pathway in small and large business across a range of industry sectors or government. Potential roles may include:
- Business Development Manager
- Business Analyst
- Senior Manager
- Director Manager
Successful completion of this course can also be a pathway to pursue other advanced diplomas qualifications, or graduate certificate/ graduate diploma qualifications with 3 years equivalent full-time relevant workplace experience at a significant level of leadership and management responsibility and/or complexity in an enterprise. Alternatively, the students will be able to access the appropriate employment
Course Duration
This course will be delivered over a total of 52 weeks, which comprises of 40 study weeks and 12 weeks of term break.

Note: During the COVID-19 crisis, our campuses remain closed to students. To ensure students can continue to learn and progress through their course, without COVID-19 being a barrier to attaining a qualification, Choice Business College is providing online, real-time virtual classrooms. This will allow students to continue to study and complete the requirements of the course, without needing to attend the campus.
Choice Business College monitors student attendance and progress. Participation in campus-based or virtual classroom sessions is mandatory, as well as successfully completing all assessment requirements, in order to progress through the course.
Entry Criteria
The following local entry criteria apply:
- Students must be a minimum of 18 years of age at enrolment
- Successfully completed High School Certificate (Year 12) or equivalent
- Have completed a Diploma or Advanced Diploma from the BSB Training Package (current or superseded equivalent versions). Or have two years equivalent full-time relevant workplace experience in an operational or leadership role in an enterprise.
- Have sound English literacy skills
- Provide IELTS certificate showing an overall band 6.0, or
- Where an IELTS certificate is not necessary as part of their visa application, undertake Choice Business College’s Language, Literacy and Numeracy Assessment and achieve the following ACSF Levels
- Learning – Level 4
- Reading – Level 4
- Writing – Level 4
- Oral Communication – Level 4
- Numeracy – Level 4
To complete any self-study and submit assessments, students will also be required to have access to a computer with Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint (or compatible software) an internet browser and internet access.
Course Credit
Credit Transfer is the recognition of learning achieved through formal education and training.
We acknowledge the requirement as a Registered Training Organisation to recognise the awards issued by other RTOs. This is limited to outcomes that are drawn from the national skills framework being units of competency awarded and accurately identified in statements of attainment and qualifications.
Where a student may wish to apply for credit transfer, they will be required to formally apply and submit an authenticated copy of their previously attained AQF documentation for review by Choice Business College’s admission department.
Recognition Prior Learning
All students at Choice Business College are offered the opportunity to apply for Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) at enrolment. Students may be granted credit or partial credit in recognition of skills and knowledge gained through work experience, life experience and/or prior training.
Course Outcome (Awards)
- Successful completion of all ten (10) unit of competencies required to be awarded with an AQF certification.
- Partial completions will be awarded with a Statement of Attainment.

A | Knowledge Questions | Learners are assessed through questioning in some units. These are used to identify the student’s underpinning knowledge in the context of practical tasks. These questions are also used to authenticate assessment tasks submitted by the student. |
B | Project Portfolio | Learners are assessed through written reports in some units. The goal is to ensure the learners possess the technical skills in writing and drafting professional workplace reports. Also, Learners are assessed through practical activities in some units. In practical tasks involving simulated industry environments, participants adopt and act out the role of characters, or parts that may have personalities, motivations, and backgrounds different from their own.
